Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our portable softener rental program.

The Rental Process

Is there a minimum rental term?

No. We operate purely on a flexible month-to-month basis (or weekly for certain units). You can cancel and return the equipment at any time without penalty fees.

How does the $100 deposit work?

We place a $100 hold on your card when the unit ships. The day the unit is scanned back into our warehouse at the end of your rental period, that $100 is automatically released back to your original payment method. As long as you don't keep the unit permanently, it costs you nothing.

What happens if a unit stops working?

Because you are renting, you have zero liability for typical mechanical breakdowns. Just let our support team know, and we will cross-ship a fully sanitized replacement unit to your location overnight so you are never without soft water.

Technical & Maintenance

Do I have to "Regenerate" the system?

Yes. Portable softeners capture calcium inside internal resin beads. When those beads are full, they need to be flushed out (regenerated) using standard table salt. It takes about 20 minutes and costs less than $2 in salt. The frequency depends on your unit size and water hardness—usually once every 2 to 6 weeks.

Will this lower my water pressure?

Almost imperceptibly. Our Pro and Max units use high-flow distributor baskets that restrict less than 2 PSI, meaning you will not notice a difference in your shower pressure at all.

Is the softened water safe to drink?

Yes. Ion-exchange softening does add a microscopic amount of sodium to the water (less than what is found in a piece of white bread). However, if you are strictly monitoring your sodium intake for medical reasons, you should consult your doctor.
